Jurgen Klopp was in the crowd on Saturday to watch French second-division side Paris FC as part of his new role with Red Bull.

The former Liverpool manager is now head of global football for the Red Bull group of clubs. Among his tasks is to turn Paris FC into a leading club in France under the ownership of France's richest family, the Arnaults of the LVMH luxury empire.

The family's acquisition of the second-tier club includes the addition of the energy drink giant as a minority shareholder, which is where Klopp fits in to provide his strategic vision.

“I see my role primarily as a mentor to the coaches and management of the Red Bull clubs,” Klopp said in October. “But ultimately, I am part of a unique, innovative and forward-thinking organization.”

The French league posted a photo of a smiling Klopp in the stands alongside Antoine Arnault, son of billionaire Bernard Arnault, as they watched Paris FC beat Amiens 1-0. Pierre-Yves Hamal scored the only goal of the game in the 50th minute.

Paris FC are chasing promotion to the top flight and were provisionally promoted to first place ahead of promotion rivals Lorient's home game against Metz later on Saturday.

Klopp officially began working as Red Bull's global football director in October.

He has already held talks with Mario Gómez, the former German striker who is technical director of Red Bull.

“Of course, Jürgen and I have been in contact for a long time, but he also made it very clear that it will only be operational from January,” said Gómez.

Last month, Klopp also spoke to Red Bull CEO Oliver Mintzlaff and Leipzig CEO Marcel Schafer.

Klopp will also speak to Leipzig manager Marco Rose, who he knows from their time together at Mainz.

Leipzig cannot qualify for the Champions League round of 16 after losing all six of its games in the competition.

Klopp will also have assignments in Brazil with Sao Paulo and Red Bull Bragantino, while he will evaluate the New York Red Bulls during their pre-season training camp in California.

Klopp is expected to visit Japan next month to watch Omiya Ardija.

Although Red Bull has a stake in Leeds United, Klopp will not take an active role due to his previous association with Liverpool.
