According to documents obtained by TMZ, Blake was “determined to make Baldoni the real villain in her story” to avoid being publicly vilified as “tone-deaf” during the film's media tour. Justin says she was promoting her hair care and alcohol line while also promoting a film about domestic violence.
In the lawsuit, Justin says that the war between him and Blake began back in May 2023, when they began filming the film. He claims she developed a “takeover strategy” as they fought for creative control.
The documents include emails between the two actors shortly before filming began, and Justin claims Blake expressed “heartfelt gratitude” for all the work they did to prepare – but he also believes it was all one was a facade so she could wrest control from him.
Some of their early arguments were about her character's wardrobe – she wanted to be rich and sexy, but he pointed out that she was playing a struggling small business owner.
He also claims Blake didn't read the book when they were working on the script, adding… “She even tried Googling her character's hair color instead of picking up the book.”
The lawsuit seeks damages of no less than $400 million from Lively and Sloane.
As we reported, Baldoni is also suing The New York Times for $250 million over the paper's bombshell article alleging that he and others coordinated a smear campaign against Blake.
