LSU wide receiver Kyren Lacy, considered a first-round pick in the NFL Draft, is wanted by police who say he was involved in a fatal car accident.
Police issued an arrest warrant for the 24-year-old. They allege that their speeding on a highway near Lafourche Parish caused a crash that killed Herman Hall, a 78-year-old former Marine, and injured two other people.
A statement from Louisiana police said: “After the accident, Lacy drove around the scene of the accident and fled south on LA Hwy 20 without stopping to render aid, call emergency services or report his involvement in the accident.
'The investigation revealed that the accident occurred when a 2023 Dodge Charger was traveling south on LA Hwy 20.
“The driver of the Dodge, later identified as 24-year-old Kyren Lacy of Thibodaux, recklessly passed several vehicles at a high rate of speed while crossing the center line and entering the northbound lane while in a designated no-passing zone.”
The report adds that Lacy and his representatives have been in contact with authorities to try to turn himself in and that he is also wanted for felony hit and run and reckless operation of a vehicle.
He declared for the NFL Draft on December 19, two days after the incident.
