The Los Angeles wildfires have displaced thousands of people, charred businesses, and destroyed entire neighborhoods… and they're not even fully contained yet.
According to the latest updates… the highest warning level for high winds and fire conditions, labeled “Extremely Hazardous Situation,” has been declared by the agency National Weather Service Wednesday.
The Palisades Fire, which has destroyed much of the iconic coastal community, is currently 18% contained – having burned nearly 24,000 acres.
Schools, restaurants and houses – including those that belong to them Spencer Pratt And Heidi Monday, Leighton Meester And Adam Brody, Jeff Bridges, Anna FarisAnd Miles Teller– among other things – have been burned to ashes in the week since the fire first broke out.
The Eaton Fire that has devastated the Altadena and Pasadena neighborhoods has continued to make progress…as 45% of the fire is currently contained.
However, the impact is still immense…more than 14,000 acres have burned, destroying houses of worship, retirement homes and other community buildings.
In total, over 40,000 hectares have burned across the region, at least 25 people have died and more than 12,000 buildings have been destroyed… and unfortunately, the numbers could potentially rise.
As LAFD and others work around the clock to combat the persistent infernos, the city remains on alert… as Santa Ana winds peak again on Wednesday, bringing hurricane-force gusts.
However, Los Angeles residents are rallying around the victims… and prominent Angelenos are taking part in a planned benefit concert called FireAid.
As we reported… the benefit show will take place in late January at the Intuit Dome and the Kia Forum.
We're told more than 50 artists and bands have requested to take part… but there are currently only 24 spots available. However, the organizers are trying to expand the concert to include more seats. So expect the biggest and brightest names to be in attendance when the concert ends.
Celebrities also spend a lot of money to help wildfire victims, among other things Barbara Corcoran, Arnold Schwarzenegger, MarshmelloAnd Sofia Vergara All have donated to various GoFundMe fundraisers… and have helped the site bring in a whopping $100 million in relief money already.
