LSU backup quarterback Colin Hurley is “stable” after a horrific accident on the school's campus, his family announced.
The 17-year-old was injured after crashing his car into a tree on the school campus early Thursday morning.
The freshman was found unconscious but breathing after firefighters removed him from his vehicle, according to the Baton Rouge news station. WBRZ.
His family issued an update on Hurley's condition Thursday night, assuring fans that the Tigers star would recover.
“Colin would like to thank the first responders, the incredible doctors and nurses at Our Lady of the Lake Health, and the many Tigers fans for their care and compassion,” the statement, shared via ESPN's Pete Thamelread.

Hurley fell in and out of consciousness after firefighters removed him from his vehicle.
Hurley reportedly crashed his Dodge Charger into a tree at South Quad Drive and Highland Road, near the south gates of the LSU campus.
The cause of the accident has not yet been revealed, although authorities reportedly believe that no impairment was suspected. No further details have been made available.
An accident report says the college football player blacked out and had a large cut on his face.

Hurley, a freshman from Jacksonville, Florida, was just 16 years old when he enrolled in school to begin his college football career.
After serving as a backup to Garrett Nussmeier and Michael Van Buren for the Tigers in 2024, he will enter his second season with LSU later this year.
The teenager was the No. 25 quarterback in the class of 2024, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
He is believed to have chosen LSU over Alabama, Florida and Arkansas.
