Manchester United suffered their fourth consecutive defeat on Monday night, losing 2-0 to Newcastle at Old Trafford.
The damage was done from the start when Alexander Isak and Joelinton gave the Magpies complete control in the first half hour.
Joshua Zirkzee was substituted shortly after and United showed some signs of improvement after the break, but it was too late.
It was another miserable night for United, who remain in 14th place, while Newcastle move up to fifth.
But did any United players stand out? And who were Newcastle's star players?
Mail Sport's CHRIS WHEELER and CRAIG HOPE were on hand to rate the players on display at Old Trafford…
Alexander Isak led Newcastle to a comfortable victory at Old Trafford
Joelinton added Newcastle's second and the visitors took the lead.
It was another punishing night for Rubén Amorim, as his team suffered its fourth consecutive defeat in all competitions.
MAN UNITED (3-4-3)
ANDRÉ ONANA 5 – He looked shaky under high balls again after being hit by a Wolves corner, but had no protection from his defense for either goal.
MATTHIJS DE LIGT 4.5 – He returned after an illness and must have wished he had stayed in bed. United's defense looked terrified every time Newcastle closed in on them.
HARRY MAGUIRE 5 – He made some timely interceptions as United's three defenders crunched and he stepped forward to head against the post just before the hour mark.
LISANDRO MARTÍNEZ 4 – Captain for the night, but lost track of Isak for the first goal and Joelinton outjumped him for the second. His height seems more of an issue now.
NOUSSAIR MAZRAOUI 4.5 – He has been one of the best players under Amorim, but arguably had his toughest game yet against Gordon and Hall on the United right.
CASEMIRO 4 – He started the first league in a month and played like that. His pass failed, a shot went 20 meters over the bar and deflected a great chance before the break.
CRISTIAN ERIKSEN 4.5 – Slightly better after the break but United's experienced midfield pairing looked old and slow against Tonali and Joelinton.
Lisandro Martínez was left out in both Newcastle goals and his height is becoming a problem
Casemiro missed a great opportunity and his passing was below average throughout the evening.
Joshua Zirkzee was substituted in the first half and it's hard to see where he goes from here.
DIOGO DALOT 5 – The only good news is that he will no longer have to play on his weaker foot if United sign a left-back in the January transfer window.
AMAD DIALLO 5.5 – Plenty of effort from the little Ivorian as usual, but there wasn't much to show for it as he was dominated by Burn and Hall.
RASMUS HOJLUND 5 – A thankless task against Schar and Burn alone, and he squandered his best chance when he ran across the goal and went wide.
JOSHUA ZIRKZEE 3 – Brutal departure when he was replaced by Mainoo in the 33rd minute to great applause at Old Trafford. Where will it go from here?
Substitutes: Bayindir, Rashford, Malacia, Yoro (by Martínez 65, 6), Garnacho (by Casemiro 64, 6), Antony, Mainoo (by Zirkzee 33, 6), Collyer, Kukonki.
Reserved: Martinez
Coach: Rubén Amorim 4 – United appear to be going backwards under him. How long will it be before you have to consider changing the game plan to better suit your players?
NEWCASTLE (4-3-3)
MARTIN DUBRAVKA 6.5 – He was a spectator for most of the first half, but the footwork was neat when needed. Fourth clean sheet in the Premier League.
Dan Burn was imperious in the Newcastle defense as he kept a clean sheet
KIERAN TRIPPIER 7 – He made no mistake and was unlucky not to score directly from a corner in the first half. He brings class and calm to the team.
FABIÁN SCHAR 6 – I was lucky when a careless pass was not penalized with a goal just before half-time and the marking was not precise enough for Maguire to hit the post.
AND BURN 8.5 – His imperious form continues and he won the physical duel with Hojlund. When the hosts improved in the second half, he stepped up and led his team home. MOTHER.
LEWIS ROOM 8 – Magnificent center for the opener and he exploited the space on the left. Huge block on goal in the second half. He looks like an England left back.
BRUNO GUIMARÁES 8 – He continues to enjoy the number 8 role. The passes were so nice and clever and the Brazilian was easily the most creative player in the game. Commanded midfield.
SANDRO TONALI 7.5 – He did what he has done in every game since moving to No. 6: he controlled the game and made it look easy. He should have scored by hitting the post at 2-0.
Sandro Tonali continued to shine in his new position as number 6 for the visitors at Old Trafford
JOELINTON 7.5 – How Man United could do with his type in midfield. The intimidated Casemiro and Eriksen and the dominant display were rewarded with the goal.
JACOB MURPHY 6.5 – Calmer offensively after a run of goals and assists, but did a good job defensively, going deep to help Trippier.
ALEJANDRO ISAK 7 – The hosts could not live with him at times in the first half and inexplicably left him alone to head the first goal. Should have added a second when it was sent clear.
ANTONIO GORDON 7 – The winger was the go-to man during the first half dominance and provided an assist for Joelinton. Like Isak, he should have been served more.
Anthony Gordon will feel he should have scored but remained a constant threat

Subs
Tino Livramento (hereinafter by Trippier 58) 6
Manager: Eddie Howe 7.5 – They had sound tactics and their three-man midfield set the tone for a dominant first half that won them the match.
