Manchester City continue to consider Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz as an option this month.
Luiz, who plays for the same club as his girlfriend, Alisha Lehmann, has played just 16 times for Juventus this season and could already be on the verge of leaving the club.
He played 204 times for Aston Villa and was previously linked with a move to Arsenal when he was in the Midlands, although nothing materialized and he remained at the club, helping them qualify for the Champions League.
His summer departure was something of a surprise, but Villa replaced him with their Amadou Onana.
Luiz could now be in line to return to City, having been at the Etihad between 2017 and 2019 without making a single appearance due to work permit issues.
Pep Guardiola's side have struggled in the middle of the park this season due to Rodri's injury and the absence of Mateo Kovacic, and Luiz's arrival would be a boost for their top four hopes.

City captain Kyle Walker should finalize his move to AC MILAN, who are also interested in Chelsea's Joao Felix.
“Everyone knows that Walker is a great player, he did great things at City,” Milan senior advisor Zlatan Ibrahimovic told DAZN when asked about Walker ahead of Saturday's defeat to Juventus.
'When there is someone like him on the market, a lot of interest is generated. It doesn't go against our vision, because he is strong, he is a leader, he has dominance in the locker room. We are now checking if it is possible.
'We talk to (coach Sergio) Conceicao every day, to talk to him and understand what he likes and what he doesn't.
'We know what is needed and now we work. The team is strong. What do we need? In the transfer market, the more I say it, the more it costs, it's better not to say it.
'The team, as I said, is already strong. “We showed in the Super Cup that they are a team that can win, now we need continuity.”
