- LISTEN NOW: It's all starting! Ruben Amorim seems desperate… it is the last resort to publicly denounce your players
Manchester United will headline the Premier League Summer Series in the United States this year, Mail Sport can exclusively reveal.
We understand Premier League bosses are close to securing United's flagship addition for the first time as part of one of their official pre-season schedules.
The Old Trafford club did not participate in the inaugural Summer Series on the US east coast in 2023, and never participated in nine editions of the Asia Trophy between 2003 and 2019.
United have preferred to organize their own summer tours given their commercial appeal, so this is seen as a blow to the Premier League, which will organize commercial events around the mini-tournament.
Other participants are yet to be confirmed and interest is not lacking. The League is likely to target six teams, but this is subject to change. Bournemouth are one of those in talks to join this year's squad.
Details regarding host venues are also being finalized. In the 2023 edition, won by Chelsea, matches were played in Atlanta, New Jersey, Orlando, Philadelphia and Washington DC, and we understand that the East Coast will once again be the focus of the series.
But United will guarantee sold-out stadiums wherever they play and, for manager Ruben Amorim, it will be an insight into the club's global reach during his first pre-season in charge, should he remain in charge beyond this campaign. .
It could be that any new signing will also make their debut in the United States, with the Summer Series likely to begin in late July.
