Alan Shearer weighed in on Man United's woes under Ruben Amorim after the Red Devils suffered an embarrassing 3-1 home defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
The Newcastle legend argued they are worse under the Portuguese manager than under Erik ten Hag, who was sacked in October when United languished in 14th place in the Premier League table.
The decision brought an end to his two years at Old Trafford, during which he led the club to success in the FA and EFL Cups.
Since Amorim's appointment, United have risen just one place, now to 13th, and have managed just three wins in 11 league games.
Despite his poor form, the former Sporting boss has remained stubborn in his risky tactical approach, which involves his team switching between three and five defenders in different phases of the game.
Shearer insisted United players cannot play in this setup, pointing out that it has led to worse results than those they suffered under Ten Hag before his sacking.

Sunday's 3-1 defeat to Brighton at Old Trafford marked just the third time in Premier League history that United have lost three consecutive home games against the same opponent.
When Erik ten Hag was sacked, United were 14th in the table, but have only risen one place since then.
