Manchester United have carried out an investigation into Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell, according to a report.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move for Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu but could do with selling a number of out-of-favour players to free up funds.
Ruben Amorim has been forced to play right back Diogo Dalot in a left back position this season, due to injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
The latter has been used sparingly by the Manchester United manager, who has returned to full fitness this season after absences of more than a year.
According to ESPNThe Red Devils are 'exploring the possibility' of signing a left-back if they can afford it this month.
As well as Danish international Dorgu, the report claims investigations have been made into Wolves' Rayan Ait-Nouri and Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell.

Manchester United in talks over potential deal for Lecce and Danish star Patrick Dorgu
United had initially targeted Nuno Mendes at Paris Saint-Germain, but it was always a difficult deal due to the expense; Bournemouth's Milos Kerkez was another in consideration, but again he would not be sold cheaply.
Amorim is eager to strengthen his options before releasing players when United face Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday and even in the FA Cup.
The terms for Antony's departure to Betis have been firmly agreed, but there are still details to be finalized as Amorim assesses what he needs to work on going forward.
Dorgu's contract with Serie A side Lecce expires in 2029. The 20-year-old began his youth career at Copenhagen's Husum Boldklub before moving to Nordsjaelland's youth academy.
In 2022 he signed for Lecce and a year later he was promoted to the senior team, making his debut in August 2023 in the Coppa Italia.
Meanwhile, Mitchell has started every game for Palace in the Premier League this season and has impressed as the Eagles climbed the table.
He has made a total of 170 appearances for the south London club, scoring three goals and assisting 11.
