Manchester United winger Antony has taken his former club Ajax to court, accusing the Dutch giants of “illegally” fining him ahead of his move to Old Trafford in 2022.
The Brazilian missed training and Ajax's third league game of the season, despite not being injured, before the Red Devils agreed an £85.5m fee for his services.
Alfred Schreuder, then Ajax boss, told ESPN in August 2022: “I only want players who are completely focused on Ajax.” “We've talked about it and I think it's a difficult situation.”
Antony is said to have finally discovered that money had been deducted from his salary after completing his move. According to the Dutch newspaper ADThe winger accuses the club of “illegal” behavior, and a cited source states that the fines amounted to “a few hundred thousand euros.”
A spokesman for the Dutch Football Federation's arbitration committee confirmed that the case began on Monday in Zeist, near Utrecht. Antony appealed to the arbitration committee six months ago. Cases of this nature are typically resolved within a month of the hearing.
