Marseille could assemble a strike force from castaways Manchester United as they reportedly look to pair Marcus Rashford with Mason Greenwood.
The French side are said to have been in touch over a loan deal for Rashford but face competition from across Europe.
Rashford issued a call to clubs across Europe last month when he confessed he is “ready for a new challenge” away from Old Trafford.
Barcelona is understood to be his favorite destination, while Borussia Dortmund and Juventus have also held talks with their representatives.
But Marseille could present an attractive offer, as the Mediterranean club is second in Ligue 1 under Roberto De Zerbi.
French newspaper L'Equipe reports that they have inquired about Rashford but are also interested in Bayern Munich striker Mathys Tel.
Marseille have reportedly inquired about the loan of Manchester United star Marcus Rashford.
Such a move would reunite him with former United youngster Mason Greenwood.
Greenwood is in good form at the French south coast team, which is second in Ligue 1.
With Rashford's salary understood to be around £350,000 a week, there would have to be negotiations over how much financial burden Marseille would take on.
Respected financial data website Capology claims Adrien Rabiot is Marseille's highest-paid star at just over £100,000 a week.
Marseille has proven to be a scoring goldmine for Greenwood, with the 23-year-old scoring 13 goals in 20 games.
He was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behavior in October 2022, but the charges and case were dropped in February 2023 when key witnesses withdrew and “new material came to light”.
Last season United subsidized Greenwood's salary while he was on loan at Getafe and did the same with Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.
Rashford has not played since early December after United manager Ruben Amorim left him out of the Manchester derby.
United's preference is believed to be a permanent departure for Rashford in a £40m deal rather than a loan.
Mail Sport previously revealed that Tottenham are also among the clubs that have an interest in Rashford.

Speaking about his desire to leave for Henry Winter last month, Rashford said: “For me personally, I think I'm ready for a new challenge and the next steps.”
'When I leave there will be no hard feelings.' You're not going to get any negative comments from me about Manchester United. That's me as a person.
'If I know that a situation is already bad, I'm not going to make it worse.
“I've seen other players leave in the past and I don't want to be that person.
“When I leave I will make a statement and it will be mine.”
When asked if he would always be a Red at heart, Rashford, who has been at the club since he was seven and made his debut in 2016, replied: “Yes! 100%. 100%.”
