Mary Steenburgen says she thought her husband Ted Danson was a cool guy before they met…until he punctuated a run in the hay with a lame phrase.
The actress announced the news People on the red carpet at the Golden Gala on Friday … and explained that she always thought TD was a pretty cool guy because of his on-screen personality.
That all changed after they had sex for the first time, MS says… because when they were done, she swears Danson couldn't help but say, “Oh my goodness.”
Mary jokingly apologizes to her granddaughters for using the post-sex phrase… because they probably didn't want to get to know their grandparents that well!

Steenburgen says there was a lot more to Danson than she thought when they first met… and over the years she's learned more about his activism and kindness.
She says his interactions with her children definitely helped build the love between them… and she called it “exciting” to go through life with him.
Ted and Mary met in 1983 but did not marry until the mid-1990s. They have children from previous relationships, but none together.
Moral of the story: Never judge a book by its cover – or a person by what they say right after sex!
