Mason Greenwood is abandoned by Roberto de Zerbi, a few days after the pointed comments of Marseille's manager about the former united man striker

Mason Greenwood has been retired by Roberto de Zerbi after Marseille's manager admitted that he was not impressed with English.

The former Manchester United prospect has had a productive season for French giants so far, scoring 15 goals in 24 games to emerge as one of the outstanding players in Ligue 1.

That said, Greenwood remains a much less influential asset when it comes to the open Marseille game, especially when it comes to its defensive duties.

And although he has scored three goals in his last five appearances, his skill skill has not avoided him from being expelled from the initial alignment of Marseille for tonight's clash against RC Lens, days after Zerbi's manager issued his dull actions.

While reiterating his delight for having Greenwood at his disposal, the former Brighton chief highlighted his dissatisfaction in the player last week.

'Otherwise, we, as a summary, always return to the same pattern: a very good game, then a defeat in Auxerre, then a victory against Nantes … is too irregular, it is like waves. And that is something that I don't like.

Greenwood ended up presenting against lens, leaving the bank while his team was looking for a winner.
