Matthew Stafford is pulling out all the stops to ensure he isn't the next athlete targeted in the recent string of break-ins – TMZ Sports It was reported that the Rams quarterback invited law enforcement officers and NFL security guards to inspect his LA-area home for possible vulnerabilities.
We learn from law enforcement sources that league officials and police met at the Super Bowl champion's home this month to discuss his current situation … and provide tips and security measures on what his family can do to further deter criminals from targeting his block.
Although Stafford himself wasn't there, we're told the NFL specifically asked police about the South American burglary squads believed to be behind all the attacks… and how they can work together to make it harder for criminals carry out their operation.
For example, officials are telling homeowners to make sure ALL of their homes have security alarms — not just the first floor. They also advise people to remember not to leave ladders lying around on their property.
Officers have also received more frequent requests to patrol athletes' neighborhoods — particularly when they are out of town or in the middle of games.
What makes the alleged perpetrators so difficult to track down is the fact that their names, fingerprints and DNA are not present in any American system.
Law enforcement is expected to use drones, surveillance, social media and public schedules to figure out when to hit their targets, as well as Wi-Fi jammers to disable security and camera systems and leave no detectable DNA behind.
The thieves also appear to use fake IDs to rent cars for their work… and when they make off with the stolen loot, they can be up to two states away the next day.
Once they get their hands on the items, they fence off some of them and then bring the rest back to South America.
Even when suspects are arrested, once they are released on bail, it is common for them to fall off the grid and return home.
In other words, they are much more sophisticated than Harry and Marv.
As we previously reported, there are big names like Travis Kelce, Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow And Luka Doncic had Their houses were broken into over the past few months…but Stafford is doing what he can to stay away from that growing list.
