There are moments during a conversation with the new favorite of Everton fans, Carlos Alcaraz, helped by an impressive translator, who in the room suddenly remember a bit of Spanish GCSE.
“Crazy, crazy,” says the Argentine who passes “Charly”, causing laughter, when asked about his first flavor of the Merseyside derby.
He had played 25 minutes, and almost scored, a few days before at home in Bournemouth, but nothing could prepare Alcaraz for the emotionally charged and moody at environment in Goodison Park after a famous last minute equalizer against Liverpool.
“Crazy … crazy,” he says with breath, which translates as “crazy … crazy.” He adds: 'He was a crazy derby, a crazy game. It was a pulsating game and, to say that it was my first derby with this shirt, I really enjoyed it, it was a fantastic occasion.
'I am very, very competitive and the aggression is part of my game. But I also have other technical qualities. But what you will find when I put this shirt is that I just want to do my best. Very competitive and I give 100 percent all the time.
Alcaraz was clearly dazzled by the occasion of the Mersyside derby, in good sense, and seemed disoriented full time, such was the visceral and roaring atmosphere. He supported him in style scoring at his first start, a winner in Crystal Palace on Saturday.

“I have always liked Cristiano despite being Argentine,” he adds. 'Obviously Messi I think he is the best player in the world. There is no doubt there. But I have always liked Cristiano.
'I like his consistency, his dedication, his hard work, the way he has evolved and changed his style of play over the years. It has evolved to continue playing at the highest level. That celebration (in the palace) was due to the fact that he liked it so much that he always admired him.
