Michael J Fox received America's highest civilian honor on Saturday…after the president Joe Biden awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom in an emotional moment.
The actor attended the White House ceremony on Saturday … along with several other stars and high-profile Democrats who received the same honor from the 46th president.
Watch the clip… Michael takes the stage with the help of a man in uniform and stands next to POTUS – as a series of his achievements are read out.
Among them… legendary Fox characters Alex P. Keaton from Family Ties and Marty McFly from Back to the Future.
Much of the speech, however, was devoted to the star's tireless optimism – especially given his battle with Parkinson's.
Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's in the early 1990s… and announced the news on the show Spin City later in the decade.

In recent years, he has become an activist, raising money for people with the disease… giving fans a glimpse into his life in the documentary “Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.”
Fox was joined on stage by a music legend BonoBasketball star Magic Johnson and actors Denzel Washington … all were praised for their talents – and also for their activism.
President Biden leaves office later this month… and he's ending his term by paying his respects to some of Hollywood's biggest names.
