Michael Owen signed up for the players of Man United after the 1-0 defeat on Sunday at Tottenham left his club staggering 15 in the Premier League and prepared for his worst season.

James Maddison's goal was enough to inflict a third defeat in the last four games for Ruben Amorim's side with only 12 points separating them from the descent zone.

Man United has lost 12 of the 25 Premier League games this season. They have not suffered more defeats in their first 25 games since 1973-74, when they were relegated from the highest category.

The United team has been beaten by the injuries to the extent that the Amorim Bank in the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium had eight teenagers with only one appearance in the first team between their lot.

But Owen, who scored 52 goals during his time at Old Trafford, told his finger to the most experienced players who remained plane when Maddison pounced to enter after Andre Onana could only stop Lucas Bergvall's effort.

'We have seen so many clips in the first half when there is no one to collect, there are three of them literally doing nothing. They will not enter, they will not mark anyone, they simply sit there.

Life does not seem to be easier in the short term for Amorim men. Then they travel to Everton for the start of the Premier League of the Lunch Hour on Saturday.

No team has secured more points than Everton's 13 since David Moyes returned to Goodison Park last month and imagine their chances of inflicting the man out of the Sorts United.
