The 18 -year -old was called this morning the team of the three lions for their World Cup qualifiers against Latvia and Albania this month.

Follow an amazing ascent from sitting at the Arsenal Bank before December to make the England team.

Arteta said: 'We were all very, very happy because it is a really pleasant story and a story that gives many young players a lot of hope and that in six or seven months their career can change drastically, drastically for good. It is something that people are inspired.

'I think it hasn't happened because he was lucky. I think he pushed for all the opportunities to happen and the way he has done so. So, yes, good example.

Arsenal's young man, Ethan Nwaneri, 17, was appointed in the England team under 21. He has also quickly ascended at the same time as Lewis-Skelly.

But Arteta believes that any comparison between calls would be unfair.

“Any comparison there, I don't think it's correct,” he said.

“I think they have a very similar path because obviously they have played so many years together, but after that they will have different moments and each race will be unique and individual for them and will have to win it.

“And what one does not reflect or affect the other in a positive or negative way, so it must be totally independent.”

In the impulse of young English talent taking the step forward, Arteta added: 'I think everyone wants to see the academy and English players driving and being the face of the football club, I think it is really important. I think it has to happen organically; You cannot force it, especially with those two (Lewis-Skellly and Nwaneri).

“Now it's really good news because they deserve to be where they are, they are doing very well and there is a brilliant future ahead of them.”
