Monaco have made a new offer to West Ham for midfielder Edson Alvarez after their initial loan request was rejected for the Mexican international.
Alvarez, 27, joined the Hammers from Ajax for £35million in 2023 after impressing for four years in the Netherlands.
He had previously been linked with Chelsea, with the midfielder revealing last year that he was just “an hour” away from joining the club in the summer of 2022.
Alvarez impressed in his debut season in east London, playing 42 times as West Ham reached the quarter-finals of the Europa League and secured 14th place.
However, things have been tougher this time around, with the Mexican star twice sent off, amid the club's wider struggles under Julen Lopetegui.
A disappointing first half of the 2024-25 campaign ultimately resulted in the Spaniard's sacking last week, as the Hammers languish in mid-table despite big summer spending.
Ligue 1 side Monaco have made a second offer for West Ham star Edson Álvarez
The team from the Principality saw their first loan offer for the 27-year-old Mexican midfielder rejected
The 27-year-old started Graham Potter's West Ham first game at Aston Villa on Friday night.
However, Alvarez remains a key player at the club and West Ham rejected an initial loan from Monaco for the 83-time Mexican international.
The Principality club maintains interest in the 27-year-old player and has returned with a new proposal.
It remains to be seen whether West Ham will be willing to consider a second bid after Alvarez started Graham Potter's first game in charge against Aston Villa on Friday.
Monaco currently sit in third place in Ligue 1, while they are in 16th place in the Champions League stage and are well placed to qualify for the knockout rounds.
Should he move to the club, he would join former Premier League stars Thilo Kehrer, Folarin Balogun, Denis Zakaria, Takumi Minamino and Mohammed Salisu.
