Kenny Lawbest known for his starring role on Discovery's “Moonshiners,” has died … TMZ has learned.
Kenny's cousin Henry Law tells TMZ … the third-generation Virginia resident died Tuesday at a local hospital after battling countless health issues in recent years.
As Henry puts it… Kenny had been struggling with heart problems for some time and suffered a heart attack in 2024. He also struggled with diabetes, which was an ongoing factor in his ongoing health problems.
Henry says it was a combination of these issues, as well as a blood infection, that led to Kenny being hospitalized last month… and dying this week.
According to Henry, Kenny's body was simply exhausted after battling both the infection and his underlying medical conditions.
We're told Kenny's family was with him when he died.
According to Kenny's cousin, the family is having a viewing this Friday… and his funeral will be held at a gravesite the next day.
Discovery Channel fans will best recognize Kenny from his constant presence on “Moonshiners” … which premiered in 2011 and followed Appalachian natives as they maintained the region's 200-year-old tradition of illegal distilling. The show has been running for 14 seasons.
Kenny and Henry also co-managed Law's Choice Distillery in Franklin County, Virginia…where they continued to run their relatives Amos lawis the “infamous” moonshine legacy.
“Moonshiners” star Amanda Bryant paid tribute to Kenny amid news of his death, remembering him as “a true moonshine legend”.
She added… “It was an honor to know you and call you my friend. Get some rest, big guy. Prayers for the entire Law family at this time. They are all very good friends of mine and it breaks my heart for each of them.”
Kenny was 68.
