New Orleans Saints could turn to Mike McCarthy in surprising move as they search for new head coach

The New Orleans Saints could make a surprising move by hiring Mike McCarthy as their new head coach.

The Saints are the last team left with a head coaching vacancy and are taking their time to make sure they get the best man for the job.

And now they're set to interview McCarthy, who was fired by the Dallas Cowboys after failing to make the playoffs.

Tom Pelissero said on NFL Network on Sunday: “Mike McCarthy, I'm told, is expected to interview with the Saints probably in the middle of this week.”

The Saints finished the season last in the NFC South with a 5-12 record. They have the ninth pick in the 2025 draft.
