The legendary defensive liner of the NFL Mark Gastineau has sued ESPN for $ 25 million for the sports network that transmits a clip of its argument with Brett Favre of 2023 as part of a documentary.
Gastineau faced the Marshal of the Campo de los Green Bay Packers two summers in 2023 at the Chicago Sports Spectacular, where he accused Favre of 'Dipe a Dive' to allow Michael Strahan to become the NFL record holder for a single season.
Favre was the field marshal that the current host of Good Morning America withdrew in 2001 to put his name in the record books and overcome Gastineau, who kept the record since 1984.
Gastineau says he was portrayed 'maliciously false' in the dispute clipand was issued in ESPN 'without its consent or permission'.
The 'New York Sack Exchange' member is looking for $ 25 million in damage to the sports network and its perceived interpretation has led it to be 'attacked in social networks'.
The lawsuit also argues that ESPN 'intentionally and maliciously did not publish' parts of the heated conversation with Favre that were an integral part of the incident.

The legendary defensive liner of the NFL and the star of the Jets, Mark Gastineau, has sued ESPN for $ 25 million

Gastineau said it was not fairly portrayed during the transmission of its 2023 argument with Favre

Favre was the field marshal to take the sack of Strahan who broke the record of a single season of Gastineau
When Gastineau signed to participate in the ESPN documentary last January, he said that part of the agreement was to approve any change in the final product. He also says that he was not aware that any clip was used, according to the New York Post.
After the documentary was broadcast, Favre defended Gastineau in a rare look back in the infamous game.
'In retrospect, I understand how Gastineau feels. We played a brutal game. Gastineau played during an era in which the boys did not make generational wealth, “Favre said in X.
'Now I see how being the king of the bags would raise his value in the card shows, he would strengthen his case for the Hall of Fame, he would increase his demand as a public speaker. I had no way of knowing that then. Now I realize the possible financial implications because football is much more business oriented than when we play I or Mark '.
The sack record of a season of Strahan is still standing today, although the star of the Steelers, TJ Watt, tied the 22.5 mark in 2021.
Gastineau has also been tied by Jared Allen and Justin Houston with 22 captures in a season.
Gastineau was part of the New York Sack Exchange of the Jets with Joe Klecko, Abdul Salam and Marty Lyons.
