The captain of the Newcastle United, Bruno Guimaraes, praised the best day of his life after taking his team to the glory of the Carabao Cup.
Guimaraes played the full 90 minutes, plus 12 nervous minutes of additional time, since Newcastle beat Liverpool 2-1 in Wembley on Sunday to end up waiting 70 years from the club to an important national trophy.
Shortly after the final whistle, the Brazilian gave an emotional interview to Sky Sports.
“Everything is for these fans,” he said. 'They deserve everything. When I came for the first time, I said I wanted to put my name in history.
'Now we can say that we are the champions again. This is one of the best days of my life.
The 27 -year -old, who joined Newcastle in 2022, revealed that he had communicated with Alan Shearer before the start and expected to follow the steps of the former striker by becoming a club legend.

“I have no word,” he added. 'It's the best day of my life. For them (fans) is like the World Cup.
'People have grown up and have not seen us as champions. My first year as captain of this club and is one of the best days. This is incredible.
'This is my second home. We are making history. Someday, when I leave this club, I want fans to sing my name as do Shearer.
'He sent me a text message before the game. I am so excited today.
Shearer, who scored 206 goals for Newcastle in 405 appearances between 1996 and 2006, was among Wembley's multitude on Sunday with his son Will.
The 54 -year -old lost two FA Cup finals in Wembley during his career as a player with The Magpies.
But his former final team witnessed his trophy drought on Sunday thanks to Dan Burn and Alexander Isak's goals.
Shearer was seen jumping with joy in the stands when Burn went to Newcastle in front just before part time.

After recovering his composure, at least a little, Shearer took out his phone and published a five -words tweet with X classification.
He simply said: 'Dan F *** ING BIG MAN Burn'.
Newcastle doubled its advantage only seven minutes in the second half courtesy of Objective 23 of the Isak season.
Isak fired home with his right foot from 12 yards, just moments after seeing a rejected goal outside the game.
Newcastle had a good value for their victory, but they were sweat late after Liverpool's substitute Federico Chiesa withdrew a goal in additional time.
