4:05 p.m. PT – The NFL says it continues to prepare for Monday night's playoff game to be played at SoFi in LA… However, the league says it has barred an alternate venue – State Farm Stadium in Glendale, AZ – in the event , that they are forced to postpone the game due to the forest fires.
The NFL says it is keeping a close eye on the wildfires currently ravaging Los Angeles … as a major postseason game is scheduled to take place in the city in just a few days.
The Vikings are scheduled to travel to Inglewood at SoFi Stadium for a Monday Night Football game against the Rams later this week … but flames are now blazing just a few miles from the venue – potentially jeopardizing the game.
For now, the arena and its surrounding area are safe — the fires are all currently north of there — and the game is still going on as scheduled … but an NFL spokesman told multiple media outlets on Wednesday that that could certainly change.
“The NFL continues to closely monitor developments in the region,” the representative said, “and will continue to communicate with both clubs and the NFLPA.”
A swap of dates is unlikely as the winner will have to play in the second round of the playoffs next weekend. But a change of venue could well be in play.
As we reported, several fires broke out in the City of Angels this week – the most devastating occurred throughout Pacific Palisades Neighborhoods Tuesday evening.
The situation has become so intense that Pasadena's Rose Bowl has actually received an evacuation notice.
