- Nicky Henderson has high hopes for new star Lulamba at Kempton this weekend
- The iconic trainer expressed his excitement ahead of the horse's British debut.
Nicky Henderson will unveil his latest exciting prospect at Cheltenham on Saturday, provided Kempton can beat the cold.
Lulamba, who races in the yellow and black silks of Sir Gino's owners Joe and Marie Donnelly, has been the subject of sustained support for the Triumph Hurdle, so much so that he is vying for favoritism for the Grade One race of the Cheltenham Festival.
Sir Gino was denied the chance to compete in the Triumph Hurdle last March as Henderson's rope was affected by illness, but Lulamba is giving Henderson all the right signs that he could be perfect for the race .
The Seven Barrows coach hopes Kempton can deliver his high-profile card on Saturday as he wants to see if the positive impression Lulamba has created at home can be carried over to where it really matters.
“He's had a race in France and won,” Henderson said on the Nick Luck Daily podcast.
'It's difficult to say the way, almost all of them were debutants. He did it very well, but you have no idea what it was or what was there. He's just a good big horse.
“If I was in England I suspect I'd probably still be on the pitch, but in France they tend to get along well.” It is a very friendly animal, very simple and spacious.
Nicky Henderson insists he can't wait to unleash his new star horse, Lulamba, this weekend.
