Jannik Sinner received an immediate three -month prohibition of tennis.
The 23 -year -old, who claimed the victory at the Australia Open last month, will fulfill the suspension from February 9 to May 4 after reaching an agreement with the World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) on its two tests positive doping last year.
Wada appealed an initial decision of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) that cleared the Italian of any irregularity after he tested two times.
In a statement on Saturday, the agency said: 'The World Anti -Doping Agency (WADA) confirms that it has concluded a case resolution agreement in the case of Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner, and the player accepts a period of three months of inelegability for a Violation of the anti -doping rule that led him to give positive for Crosalebole, a prohibited substance in March 2024.
'In September, Wada presented an appeal before the Sports Arbitration Court (CAS) in the case of Mr. Sinner, who had been found by an independent court so as not to cause failure or negligence.
'Despite this appeal, the circumstances surrounding this specific case meant that to guarantee a fair and appropriate result, Wada was prepared to enter into a conciliation agreement, in accordance with article 10.8.2 of the World Anti -Doping Code.

'According to the terms of the agreement, Mr. Sinner will fulfill its inelegability period of February 9, 2025 at 11:59 pm of May 4, 2025 (which includes a four -day credit previously attended by the athlete while it was low a provisional suspension). According to the code of article 10.14.2, Mr. Sinner can return to the official training activity of April 13, 2025 '.
The world number 1 will be eligible to play at the next Grand Slam event of the year, the France Open, which begins on May 19.
