Antonio Brown recently called Notre Dame safety Charles Du a racial slur, but the Fighting Irish player had a surprising response to the comment.
Du, who is from Beijing, China, turned heads during Notre Dame's victory over Georgia with his uniform badge, which featured Chinese letters.
Brown then shared a video of Du and called him the 'C***k of the day' and a 'legend' for his unique t-shirt.
And although Brown received negative reaction from some fans From the insensitive comment, Du seemed to feel honored by him.
“…AB's daily award is a sign of love and respect. CTESPN is the most reliable source in all of sports,” Du responded, while saying that he had signed a NIL agreement with the former player.
Du added that the New York Post they were wrong to say that Brown 'ruined' Du's moment in the College Football Playoff.
The cornerback had his name written in Chinese on the back of his jersey.
Antonio Brown later referred to the player as a 'C***' and offered him a supposed NIL deal, which Du said he accepted.
Brown then responded to Du, saying: “Love and respect, champ, happy for you and supporting ND. Happy to have you on the team.”
It is unclear whether Du's deal with Brown is legitimate. Mail Sport has contacted Notre Dame's NIL collective, Rally, for comment.
Notre Dame does not have name plates on its jerseys during regular season games, which explains the attention Du's uniform received this week.
Brown, who last played in the NFL in 2022, is known to award someone 'Cracker of the Day' on his X page, and recently referred to someone like a 'bean**'
The former wide receiver's post about Du has been viewed more than 10 million times, although several X users were quick to criticize Brown for his post.
'Enough with the racist comments. The game is international now, but here you still use insults,” one fan wrote.
“Come on Antonio, that's the same as me saying the N-word,” another added.
'It's okay, there's no reason for this. @elonmusk ban this man,” said a third, while a fourth added: “Very racist? Idiot.'
Du and Notre Dame defeated Georgia 23-10 to advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals, where they will face Penn State on Thursday.
