William McNamara may be an actor… but the only acting he did this week was acting like a hero – as he rescued several animals left behind in the Pacific Palisades wildfire.
The longtime film and television actor was a guest on “TMZ Live” on Friday … and we had a ton of questions about his animal rescue efforts this week — which began when officials closed the roads to the Palisades.

McNamara explains that some people left animals at home and went out overnight… and when they tried to come back to rescue the animals, the police wouldn't let them in.
Billy was already in the Palisades…so instead of leaving, he started rescuing pets – rounding up dogs, pigs, peacocks, horses and other animals and bringing them to safety.
McNamara says he has some experience rescuing animals … so he didn't go into it without knowing what to do – but his eyes and lungs are messed up from prolonged exposure to fire.
William doesn't take credit for his rescue efforts… instead he singles out a few people he knows who run the Animal Advocacy Network, claiming just three of them have saved – and begs – more than 300 animals since the fires began The public therefore donates for them.
What to do with all the animals now, especially when their owners have nowhere to go… Listen to what Billy has to say. Obviously this is a major collaborative effort.
The Palisades Fire is by far the largest of the fires currently ravaging Los Angeles…it already covers nearly 20,000 acres and is currently only 8% contained.
It's still early in the recovery process…but regular people like Billy are already doing their best to make a difference in their community.
