Triple Olympic gold medalist and flag bearer Jess Fox has turned heads with a memorable entry into the Australian Open, arriving in style, by kayak.

Fox, renowned for her dominance in slalom canoeing events, posted a clip on social media this week of herself in the Yarra River outside Melbourne Park.

'How do you get to the Aus Open?' she says in the clip.

“I just row here.”

Fox then used the caption: 'Am I on my way to play padel?'

Padel is a cross between tennis and squash that is played on small covered courts with softer balls where you serve from underneath and the walls can be used to return the ball to the playing surface.

The sport will be showcased at the Australian Open along with pickleball.

Fox has no experience covering tennis, but the Australian champion, along with swimmer Ariarne Titmus, has been selected to be part of the Nine network's coverage.

“I've always been a tennis fan and to have the opportunity to be at the Australian Open in this capacity is very exciting,” Titmus told News Corp.

'The AO embraces Australian culture and our love of sport as a nation. It will be a new and challenging experience to be on the other side of the microphone, but I am very grateful.

“(I'm also) looking forward to working alongside a great team and expanding my skills outside the group.”

Titmus, who won gold in the women's 400m freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay at the Paris Games, won't have to look far when it comes to valuable behind-the-camera advice.

Nine has also lured back 'Super Brat' John McEnroe, at a venue where he was infamously disqualified for unsportsmanlike behavior as a player in the 1990 tournament.

McEnroe will join fellow American Jim Courier and Australians Todd Woodbridge and Jelena Dokic as key figures in Nine's coverage.

Other confirmed commentators include local tennis personalities Lleyton Hewitt, Sam Stosur, Dylan Alcott, John Millman, Casey Dellacqua and Alicia Molik.
