Players Final day championship in Florida since Rory Mcilroy and company are forced to run to cover

The fourth and last round of the players championship was suspended on Sunday after the thunderstorms hit Sawgrass.

The horn sounded around the iconic course at local time at 1.15 pm, with Rory Mcilroy leading for a shot while playing the 12 hole.

The spectators were warned to find the coverage while the thunder rolled in the area and the skies opened.

'Look for sure shelter or leave the facilities. Avoid open areas, hills and trees', read a warning.

Sawgrass was baked in the sun and heat during the first two days of this tournament, which is called 'Quinto Mayor' and takes the best players in the world to the Coast of Florida.

But the 30 mph winds wreaked havoc during Saturday's third round before the weather took another turn on Sunday.
