Plymouth director of football Neil Dewsnip will follow Wayne Rooney at the Devon club.
Rooney parted ways with Argyle on New Year's Eve after a nine-game winless streak left them bottom of the Championship.
And Mail Sport understands transfer boss Dewsnip is also leaving the club and was not present at Home Park for the 2-2 draw against Bristol City this afternoon, in which Julio Pleguezuelo scored an injury-time equaliser.
Dewsnip has been at the club since 2019 and was an integral member of their promotion from League Two to the Championship, but they have struggled since their promotion to the second tier, with Ian Foster lasting just 16 games before Rooney was brought in.
The 63-year-old has also managed the team on an interim basis on two occasions and previously worked as England youth coach.
Speaking to Mail Sport last season, chairman Simon Hallett outlined his vision of taking Plymouth into the Premier League in a “five-year plan”, but things have only gone backwards since Steven Schumacher left Argyle for Stoke City, also from the championship.
Plymouth director of football Neil Dewsnip will leave the club following the departure of Wayne Rooney.
Rooney left Plymouth on New Year's Eve after a run of nine games without a win
Plymouth scored a late goal against Bristol City to draw their first game since Rooney's departure.
Former England and Manchester United legend Rooney was in the job for seven months and eyebrows were raised when he was appointed as his catastrophic tenure at Birmingham saw the Second City club relegated to League One.
In a statement he thanked the club for giving him the job in May, stating that Argyle will always have “a special place in my heart” and that he and the fans will have “memories that we will share forever.”
