- Patrick and Brittany Mahomes already share children Sterling and Bronze
Brittany Mahomes will be induced today, and the Chiefs star's wife, Patrick, has yet to give birth to the couple's third child.
Brittany's deadline was reportedly set for Sunday, and the quarterback previously spoke of his desire to secure the No. 1 seed in the AFC and earn a bye in the postseason with the big day quickly approaching.
However, it's now officially game week for the Chiefs, who host the Texans on Saturday, and Brittany will be inducted today, as CBS Sports' Tracy Wolfson previously reported.
Following their 38-0 loss to the Broncos in Week 18, in which Mahomes and many other starters were rested, the team was greatly delayed in returning home due to bad weather.
After the team finally returned to Kansas City, Wolfson provided an update on Mahomes and his growing family.
“No one is happier to be back in Kansas City than Patrick Mahomes. He told me his wife Brittany is giving birth to their third child on Sunday,” he wrote on X on January 6.
Patrick and Brittany Mahomes prepare to welcome their third child any day now
Patrick, who was rested at week 18, and Brittany share daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 2.
'If she doesn't give birth by then, she will be induced on Monday. There was definitely extra motivation for Patrick to have that week off!'
It is now confirmed that Mahomes and the Chiefs will face the Texans at 4:30 ET on Saturday in the divisional round.
On Christmas Day, he and his team faced the Steelers on the road, and Mahomes said he and Brittany would welcome their third child “any day” before the game.
“Brittany says I've been stressing her out too much this season, so I have to try not to stress her out as much during these soccer games and get the rest,” he said.
Kansas City earned a first-round bye in that game by handily beating Pittsburgh 29-10.
Brittany and Patrick's third child will have her sister Sterling, 3, and her brother Bronze, 2, as siblings.
Brittany previously showed off her growing baby bump on social media and wrote an early message to her third child earlier this month.
'Hello 2025, we're ready for you, little one,' he said. wrote on Instagram.
It hasn't been a great season for Mahomes, as he threw for less than 4,000 yards for the first time as a starter, but he and the Chiefs will have high hopes of lifting their third straight Super Bowl.
