A Premier League winner appeared to step up to fight KSI following Wayne Bridge's decision to pull out of the March fight.

Just two days after news of the shocking contest was announced, Bridge dramatically backed out, claiming the YouTube star 'crossed the line' with his mockery of the former Chelsea defender.

The social media sensation mocked Bridge after Misfits Boxing 20 on Saturday night, regarding his ex-girlfriend's alleged affair with John Terry.

During an in-ring confrontation with Bridge, KSI said, “Aren't you the guy who let John Terry crush your ex?” Bridge replied: 'You want to go there right away, right?'

“I'm pretty sure that's what you're known for,” KSI added, before riling up the crowd and starting a chant that went, “Vanessa woah, Vanessa woah,” in reference to Bridge's ex-girlfriend Vanessa Perroncel.

KSI proceeded to add X-rated words to his chant that directly referenced Terry and Bridge's ex-couple.

Former Leicester City defender Danny Simpson, who is believed to have been training with Bridge of late, appeared to throw himself into the ring.

'Disrespecting the players. I can't have that @KSI (angry face and boxing glove emoji) @MamsTaylor @MisfitsBoxing.' wrote in X.

The 38-year-old made his professional boxing debut in August when he faced Danny Aarons in Dublin.

Simpson had put his Premier League winner's medal on the line, while Aarons had put his YouTube Gold Subscriber badge on the line.

Simpson spoke to Mail Sport ahead of the fight when he discussed the dizzying chain of events that took him from summer holidays to the boxing ring.

“Everything happens for a reason,” Simpson declared. “Admitting to a carefree summer full of Euro celebrations and stag parties,” he confessed: “You know, you're having fun, but are you really having fun?”

A call from boxing promoter Mams Taylor presented Simpson, who won the Premier League with Leicester in 2016, with a new challenge.

Simpson recalled: “At the time, I was probably really enjoying the summer. But now, in the last three or four weeks, this has been fun. Mams Taylor called me and asked: Do I think I could do this in four or five weeks? And I love challenges.'
