Certainly they took their time on that, three weeks to be precise, but the Motherwell Board finally has its man.
All the noise that comes out of the club after the arrival of Michael Wimmer earlier this week has been, as expected, overwhelmingly optimistic.
And with good reason too. The German can be an unknown amount in these parts, but as we know, it should be an intriguing addition to the highest Scottish category.
Okay, a look at his record of 16 victories in the 47 league in Austria Vienna barely gets the pulses. Ultimately, he was relieved of his duties, after all.
But it is his football philosophy that has excited Motherwell fans, for the first time in quite some time, about the future.
Wimmer wants aggression. Ambition. Aggressor. An approach to take the game to the opposition that the support of the FIR Park has been crying for a long time.

Of course, the style may have been sacrificed, but its substance, for the most part, was there.

No manager must have to endure that, and his decision to make a position is admirable.
Unless Wimmer exceeds some type of catastrophic career from the beginning, a lot of margin of most fans will be given to lay the bases this season.
The problem is this. Based on the way Motherwell has been playing recently, that will be easier to say than to do it.
They are a side that seems completely devoid of trust.
Really strange, taking into account that not a long time ago that the European qualification was a genuine objective after an impressive start of the campaign.
But those thoughts must be parked at the moment. Now only four points above the decline tiebreaker, survival must be the main objective.
That can be an empty glass thought, but, as or group it, that is the position in which they are now.
The good news for Wimmer is that there is certainly much to work. His reputation has been based on maximizing the potential of young players and, with the quality of Lennon Miller and Ewan Wilson at their disposal, raw materials are there.

Add characters like Tom Sparrow and Tawanda Maswanishe, and there is no shortage of exciting talents for Wimmer to build his team.
For now, however, his work is simply to stop rot. The performances on this losing race of five games have been less than a disaster, with the reverse of 3-0 last week at Ross's county personifying everything that has been going badly lately. Without teeth above, a disaster on the back, and with little to shout in the middle.
The arduous work begins this afternoon with a trip to Tannadice to face a Dundee United team that is also in a sticky patch after winning only one of its last seven.
The top scorer Sam Dalby has scored only once in that spell, while his previously very aneled defense has been showing some vulnerability.
Visitors have also won both meetings between the sides this season and seem to have the United number.
With home games that come against Dundee and St Mirren in the coming weeks, Wimmer has a real opportunity to direct his side in danger and make his time in Scotland reach a flight beginning.
