PSG believe they can convince Aston Villa to sell Jhon Durán as soon as THIS MONTH, with the French champions keen to include an unwanted star in the deal for the Colombian striker.

  • Jhon Durán has been one of the stars of Aston Villa's season, scoring 12 goals
  • The club has been willing to sell the 21-year-old in each of the last two seasons.

Paris St Germain believe they can persuade Aston Villa to sell Jhon Durán this summer or even this month.

The Colombian has been one of the stars of Villa's season, scoring 12 goals, but the French champions are cautiously optimistic that he is within their reach, although any deal would prove extremely complicated mid-season.

PSG are desperate for a centre-forward and Durán is high on their list of targets.

Durán signed a new contract until 2030, including a huge pay rise, only last October and it seems inconceivable that Villa would sell him without finding a replacement.

They would also demand a price that would put Duran behind only Jack Grealish, who joined Manchester City for £100m in 2021, on the club's record sales list.

Villa want to sign Donyell Malan from Borussia Dortmund, but the Dutchman is not an orthodox centre-forward, but plays several roles in the front line.

Jhon Durán has enjoyed a great year this season, scoring 12 goals for Aston Villa so far.

PSG are trying to advance striker Randal Kolo Muani and would be willing to include the French internationals in any discussions about 21-year-old Duran.

Villa were prepared to sell Durán in each of the last two windows but he has since become a central figure for manager Unai Emery. Duran replaced Ollie Watkins as Villa's first-choice No 9 before being sent off at Newcastle on Boxing Day, resulting in a three-match ban.

But Villa must also take into account the Premier League's spending rules and would make huge profits on Durán, who they bought for around £15million two years ago. Selling Durán before June 30 would have a significantly positive impact on Villa's profitability and sustainability (PSR) calculations as they try to stay on the right side of the line.

Meanwhile, Villa's transfer boss Monchi attended the La Liga clash between Rayo Vallecano and Celta Vigo, with Celta defender Oscar Mingueza on Villa's radar. The former Barcelona player has a release clause of around £17m and earns just over £20,000 a week.
