England's manager, Thomas Tuchel, asked Morgan Gibbs-White if he was “annoying” with him in an awkward phone call after the German had initially rejected the star of the Nottingham forest.

The omission of Gibbs-White for the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia was one of the largest conversation points of the first team of the new Tuchel boss.

The 25 -year -old, who has been a key player in Forest's surprise position towards the qualification of the Champions League, told Tuchel what he thought of the decision in a phone call with the German on Sunday, when he was asked to join the team.

Obviously I was upset. Yes, a little disappointed, 'said Gibbs-White to BBC Radio 5 Live.

'But when he told me, I respected his decision. The standard of the players is the upper level.

“I said back like” I feel that I have done enough to get the call, considering the level of form in which we were, but obviously you are the manager, you make the decisions, and respect it totally. “

'Then, obviously, it was disappointing, but then on Sunday I received the call, so I was directly here.

'They were around 4 or 5 o'clock. He sent me a message to say “Are you free to speak?” And I think I replied in about 30 seconds.

“He called me and said and said” Are you still upset with me or do you want to come to join us and elegant training tomorrow? “

'Obviously, there is no doubt there. Obviously I said that I would love to come and join and train with the children, so, he found out on Sunday afternoon and was smiling from ear to ear.

Despite his initial desaise, Gibbs-White has praised Tuchel's approach since Gareth Southgate took over in January.

“To be fair, it has been incredible,” he said.

'I think he has done it with most players. As soon as he got the work, he has been in contact with a large majority of the players.

“It is a really easy, pleasant type of type and only says things as if you came to see everyone play games and things.”

'I feel that it was, for him, important to try to get that link immediately with the players because he is accustomed to club football, so he is used to spending time every day with the players.

'I felt that I was the best of him, very well that that relationship began before knowing us, which is really good. So, yes, I am delighted to be here now.

Gibbs-White has scored five goals and created seven more in the incredible Forest season and believes that he is playing the best football in his career.

“I feel that the season that I and the Club, Forest, are having at the time definitely the best way I think I have been,” he said.

“Then, arriving here with that confidence and that level of football at the time, I feel that I am in a really good place.”
