Richard Keys claims Ruben Amorim is 'TRYING' to be sacked by Man United after 'worst team' snap and says Sir Jim Ratcliffe should get rid of him.

  • Richard Keys thinks Sir Jim Ratcliffe should fire Rubén Amorim immediately
  • He is not impressed that Amorim calls his team the “worst” in United's history.
  • LISTEN NOW: It's all starting! Ruben Amorim seems desperate… it is the last resort to publicly denounce your players

Ruben Amorim is trying to be sacked and Manchester United should grant him that wish, argued Richard Keys in a exciting blog post.

The former Sky Sports presenter lashed out at Amorim after the Portuguese branded his United stars as “perhaps the worst team in the club's history”.

Amorim made the scathing admission on Sunday after watching in horror as his team lost 3-1 to Brighton, their fourth defeat in five at Old Trafford.

And Keys believes Amorim should be sacked after betraying his lack of optimism and trust in the players at his disposal.

'What the hell was Rubén Amorim thinking when he said that yesterday? Are you angry? Why would you do that? Isn't he the man in charge of making things better? Keys wrote on Monday.

'I still can't understand what Amorim was trying to achieve. We know that United are bad. That's why you're there Ruben. It's your job to fix it, not tell us “I only have one way” and continue telling the world that your players are shit, the same players you need to help you out of this mess.

Keys believes Amorim showed too much pessimism by calling his team Man United

—A couple of weeks ago I said I thought he was trying to get him fired. I am even more convinced now. If I were your boss, I would call you this morning and give you your wish.

'I saw the team that was (the worst). Tommy Doc inherited a disaster when he was named OT manager and went down with that team, but he never once said what Amorim has.

He was always in the lead. Always positive. And he rebuilt United in Busby's image: with quick wingers, intelligent midfielders and ball-playing centre-backs like Martin Buchan and Brian Greenhoff. What a time that was!

Surely that's what Amorim should be doing? A war should start. Deviate like Fergie would have done. Get players and fans on your side. Give them hope.'

It's hard to find hope for a Red Devils team that is becoming more withered by the week. They are 13th in the Premier League, 14 points off the top four. Under Sir Alex Ferguson, they never finished lower than third in the Premier League.

Amorim has defeated five teams in his 15 matches since replacing Erik ten Hag: Bodo/Glimt, Viktoria Plzen, Everton, Manchester City and Southampton.

In the same period they have suffered seven defeats and have now lost six of their first 12 home league games, their worst home start in 131 years.

“We are perhaps the worst team in Manchester United's history,” Amorim admitted on Sunday.

Jamie Carragher thinks Amorim was “ridiculous” for speaking so harshly about his etam in public

'I say this because we have to recognize it and change it. Here you go: your headlines.

“It is unacceptable to lose so many games. For any Premier League club, can you imagine Manchester United?

'The rivals are better than us in many details. I am only here to help my players, but we must understand that we are breaking all the bad records.

“In 10 Premier League games we won two. I know that. Imagine what this is like for a United fan. Imagine what this is for me. We get a new coach who is losing more than the last coach. I am fully aware of it.'

Amorim warned that the worst may be on the horizon because he will not move from his tactical plan, no matter how serious it may be.

“I knew it was going to be difficult to come up with a completely new idea right now, but when you lose games it becomes really difficult,” he added. 'That's why I tell you that we are going to suffer because I will continue doing the same thing. I'm not going to change, no matter what.'
