Olivia Husseybest known for the role of Julia in Franco ZeffirelliThe classic 1968 drama “Romeo and Juliet” has died.
According to a lengthy post on her Instagram page, the actress died on Friday at her home surrounded by her family… but her cause of death has not been revealed.
The sad IG announcement read in part… “Olivia was a remarkable person whose warmth, wisdom and pure kindness touched the lives of everyone who knew her.”
For her portrayal of Juliet in the Oscar-winning film next door, Hussey won a Golden Globe at the age of just 15 Leonard Whiting who portrayed Romeo.
However, the film was not without controversy… as it featured a naked Olivia and Leonard in one scene when both were under 18 during filming. The actors revived a lawsuit against Paramount Pictures and Criterion Collections over the distribution of the scene earlier this year, but it was dismissed in October.
In 2008, the actress was diagnosed with breast cancer, which went into remission after a mastectomy… In 2018, she told Express that a new tumor had appeared.
Hussey is survived by her husband of many years David Glen Eisleyher three children Alex, Max And India and grandchildren Greyson.
She was 73.
