Ruben Amorim has challenged his players to demonstrate that Sir Jim Ratcliffe is wrong by the comments of Manchester United's co -owner that some of them are paid excessively and not good enough.

Ratcliffe made the comments open in a round of interviews on Monday in which he pointed to Jadon Sancho, Rasmus Hojlund, Casemiro, Antony and Andre Onana.

Amorim admitted that the same could say about himself and the rest of the team, and urged them to demonstrate a point to the multimillionaire of INEOS in the Europa League on Thursday night in the last 16 -second game against Real Sociedad in Old Trafford.

He said: 'I think that if we are being honest at this time, all, I, all players, are low performance this season. So we can always change that, and I include myself in that part of the low performance.

'You are talking about players like Casemiro, for example, who won everything and we know that these types of players can play much better. That is the focus.

'He was honest in that. The approach is to change their minds and change all people's minds.

'I think it is the right way to do it if you are the best player in this club, even me. Many people say I'm not good enough for the club.

'My feeling is that you can change that with results. In training, I feel they want this really bad, especially for tomorrow.

When asked if the players have come to him about the problem, he added: “No, I have had nothing.”

Ratcliffe also praised Amorim for putting him in his place in unequivocal terms if he tried to tell the chief coach where he is going wrong.

Amorim added: 'He has been really good from day one. I think we are really blunt and honest with each other.

'He is a little character, we are quite similar in that. I always felt the support of the Board and especially Sir Jim. I can't tell you the conversations, but they are simple, clear and honest conversations.

United and society are level 1-1 of the first game last week in San Sebastián, since the Amorim side seeks to keep its season alive.

“The idea for the next season will not change much, but you can give us more energy to end this season in a different way,” he said.

Mason Mount returned to training yesterday (Wednesday) after an absence of 19 games, but Amorim said he will not be ready to face society.
