Saquon Barkley has revealed how he flirted with disaster before scoring the winning touchdown that brought the Eagles one step away from the Super Bowl.
The running back scored twice to lead Philadelphia to the NFC Championship game, where they will play the Washington Commanders for a spot in New Orleans next month.
Barkley was serenaded with 'MVP' chants from the crowd at Lincoln Financial Field after his 78-yard touchdown put the Eagles out of reach.
The running back called the play but, shortly before his climactic moment, was seen talking to quarterback Jalen Hurts.
And after the match, Barkley revealed that he needed a last-minute check to avoid a disaster.
“I think he was on the wrong side, but we shouldn't have that as part of the story,” Barkley joked in the locker room. “It worked out pretty well, though.”

He explained: “That was the conversation we were having there…we went over it and I was like, 'Am I supposed to change?'
'He said, 'No…' I can't say what he said because it gives the play away. (But) I wasn't really sure. And it just worked.'
Barkley revealed that 'it was a play I requested' after 'feel and see what they were doing.
He took it to offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and it paid off. “It's beautiful when things like that happen and work, everything comes together,” he added.
Barkley ran and slid in the snow after scoring his second touchdown of the game. In the first half he scored from 62 meters.
The running back finished with 205 rushing yards as the Eagles and Rams battled brutal conditions on Sunday.
Hurts also scored a big rushing touchdown as the Eagles secured a 28-22 victory, meaning they will host the Commanders in Philadelphia next week.
