First Take host Stephen A. Smith believes Democrats are sinking and predicted they will have a hard time beating JD Vance in the upcoming 2028 presidential election.
Smith's words come days before Donald Trump's inauguration on Monday. Smith voted Democratic in last year's November election, but was quick to admit that he regretted the choice he made.
Now, in the recent episode of his youtube programHe focused his attention on Trump's return to the White House next week and what the future holds for Democrats.
'Here's a question for Democrats: when are they going to get a candidate who can be him? “And I don't mean him literally, he (Trump) won't run again, I mean JD Vance,” Smith said.
'The way you look at the Capitol is so sad that you are going to get JD Vance elected. The conservatives will win these elections because they look at you with their heads in the sand, without accepting reality.
'You lost. Nancy Pelosi won't show up for the inauguration? Well, she doesn't like it, at least it's consistent. Michelle Obama is not presenting herself well, she doesn't want to be there. She is consistent.
Stephen A. Smith predicts Democrats could struggle to beat JD Vance in 2028
Trump will be president again on Monday, after winning last year's election.
'Joe Biden called him racist, now you're working with him. Kamala Harris said a lot of things about him and she will be on that stage.
'You lost. The inability to accept the fact that you lost and the inability to look at yourself and see how tone-deaf you are and how upset people are that you are like that, let me tell you something. You're going to do this (points down).
'People are tired of this. They want the economy addressed, they want border security addressed, and they want America's streets to be safe. That's what people want.
'Until you learn to live with that reality, you are going to lose a lot of people. I'm not going to call myself a Republican, but I will say this: I have no problem avoiding supporting him based on what I'm seeing.
Earlier this week, Smith attacked Barack Obama for being so friendly to Trump at Jimmy Carter's funeral after leading such a vocal campaign against him before last year's election.
'Look, was that a good look for Barack Obama? No,” Smith said on his YouTube show. 'Civility is the order of the day.
'One is a former president, the other is the elected president. So, to some extent, there is a relationship that everyone should have. We get it, we get it.
'Here's my thing: It wasn't a good look, but it wasn't a good look because of Trump.
Smith believes Vance is well positioned to win the upcoming 2028 election against Democrats
Smith said Biden's Democratic Party is turning a deaf ear to the demands of American voters.
“It wasn't a good look because of all the things that were said about Trump during the campaign while you (Obama) were trying to convince tens of millions of people to vote for Kamala Harris.”
Raising his voice and citing accusations from Obama and the Democratic Party, Smith continued: “'Fascist,' 'threat to democracy,' you know, people mentioning Nazis and all that when talking about Trump.
“So maybe if you (Obama) hadn't said all those things, people wouldn't be behaving like that.”
