After stirring agonizing his 10,000 race during the final test of the Border Gavaskar this Mont, Steve Smith went out to hit in Galle this afternoon and finally exceeded the milestone in the first installment he faced.
The milestone means that some of the best Cricket players in the world have been joined to have obtained 10,000 tests, with the substitute captain joining the Australians Ricky Ponting, Allan Border and Steve Waugh to have achieved the feat.
Only 15 players worldwide have reached epic milestone, with Sunil Gavaskar, Brian Lara and Joe Root also some of the names in that illustrious club.
The 35 -year -old has been praised by many of the Crickt community, with a commentator about the TNT sports who welcomed the batter of New South Wales as the 'player of his generation'.
Ponting also grouped praise to the Australian mass, declaring channel 7: 'I thought I could try to get her out of the first ball she faced.
'This is a moment in the history of Cricket, right? Steve Smith, 10,000 tests.
'It could have been a slightly bigger scenario if mentioned a couple of weeks ago in front of its local crowd in the SCG, but you look around in Galle, there are many Australians who have flown only witness to that moment.
'Fantastic, magnificent achievement'.
Speaking at his unique moment, Smith said he did not waste the time to leave the brand.
He told 7 Cricket: “No, fortunately, I hit him in the gap so pleasant to carry it.”
Pressing if he felt relieved or excited by the feat, he added: 'Nothing at this time, I am only trying to concentrate on the batting. But it is good to mark that.
Before the first test, Smith had affirmed that perhaps he had been thinking too much about reaching the milestone in the SCG earlier this month.
“I probably thought about that too much about Sydney,” he said.
'Of course, it would have been great in front of all my friends and family, but doing so will also be great.
“It will be great, I have never really been one for the milestones, but to mark 10,000 with those guys, that will be quite special.”
Fans on social networks have also grouped praise to Australians, with one writing in X: 'Actually one of the great modern! Take a bow, Steve.
