Television footage from the event in Belgium captured the 33-year-old cyclist crouching next to his bike, extending his right arm over the top tube.
He was initially seen struggling to move his injured limb, then propped it up against his chair, using his body weight to push down and pop the joint into place.
The dramatic and painful maneuver surprised commentators, with a Eurosport announcer exclaiming: “Did he just put his shoulder back in?”
Meanwhile, other cyclists soldiered on, carrying their bikes across the muddy terrain as Van der Haar worked on his injury at the edge of the field.

Surprisingly, the entire procedure took the cyclocross veteran just 10 seconds, leaving onlookers horrified and impressed at the same time.
Although he had been running in the top five, the crash and shoulder restart caused him to lose precious time and he eventually finished tenth.
Series leader Niels Vandeputte gained further ground, while Wout van Aert held off Eli Iserbyt to secure his first win of the season.
After the grueling hour-long run, Van der Haar reflected on his difficult day, saying: “It took me a long time to recover. I also fell, so it wasn't really my day.”
This isn't the first time Van der Haar has used his bike to realign his shoulder during a race. A similar incident occurred last season at the Superprestige Niel.
Fans online were amazed by his stamina, with one commenting: “He's definitely done this before.” Another commented: “It hurts like hell, but when it's on, the pain goes away.”
A third added: “I honestly can't understand what I just saw.” That was impressive and terrifying at the same time. Fair play to him.
Others simply wrote: 'That is true determination. Sports are simply the best, right? I can't believe it at all.
Some couldn't help but compare the courage of cyclocross athletes to that of footballers, with one fan joking: “They should be well-paid footballers, jumping like they've been hit by snipers, look at this!”
