Strange reason Eagles coach Nick Sirianni and Commanders star 'had to be separated' after last Sunday's game

It was claimed that Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and Washington Commanders tight end Zach Ertz had to be separated after coming to blows in last Sunday's game.

The Philadelphia Investigator said Thursday that Eagles head security Dom DiSandro, affectionately known as 'Big Dom,' had to keep the duo separated.

The incident was reportedly sparked by Sirianni taking issue with how hard Ertz high-fived him at the end of the game and responded by mocking him for only making one catch.

“We both said 'congratulations' to each other,” Sirianni said after the game, while the Inquirer quoted Ertz as simply saying, “We just exchanged Christmas jokes and moved on.”

The Inquirer's 'Uncovering the Birds' podcast said Sirianni later apologized to Ertz, a player he once briefly coached on the Eagles, over Zoom.

This is not the first time Sirianni has been involved in a controversial incident this season.

In October, the Eagles head coach apologized to fans after appearing to respond to taunts for dismissal by touching his ear and yelling at fans sitting nearby.

When he apologized, he brought his children to the press conference.

The Eagles lead the Commanders atop the AFC East by two wins and can clinch the division with a win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

But in a tense game against the Commanders, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts left in the first quarter with a concussion that will likely cause him to miss the Cowboys game this weekend.

Meanwhile, Ertz and the Commanders need to win from here to have any hope of knocking the Eagles off the top of the NFC East.

The Commanders host the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday before finishing the season against the Dallas Cowboys.
