Prime Minister John Swinney has said that “it is not understanding” to allow alcohol in football games.
The documents published through the Freedom of Information Legislation on Tuesday showed that the Scotland Police and the Professional Soccer League of Scotland were “open to discussions” on the subject.
The documents were part of an informative session provided to Prime Minister John Swinney.
If such a measure was brought, the document said, it would be “in a limited number of pilot projects” to gather evidence on the effect of selling alcohol and understanding the results and impacts.
But, speaking with the AP news agency yesterday, the prime minister knocked down any speculation that such plan would be presented.
“I understand the aspiration between football clubs and some football interests to take forward measures to address alcohol prohibition in football stadiums,” he said.

'I don't sympathize with that. I understand where they come from, but I don't sympathize with that.
“I think we have a set of arrangements established only now that work, which are appropriate, that are necessary, and I think we should continue with them.”
The ban was put into force for the first time in 1981 after the disorder between the Rangers and the Celtic fans in the final of the Scottish Cup of the previous year.
Critics of the ban have indicated the hospitality suites located on soccer fields that sell alcohol to those who pay more for tickets, as well as the lack of a similar prohibition in rugby matches played in Murrayfield in Edinburgh.
