The head of UFC, Dana White, has announced that the Australian star Alex Volkanovski will return to the octagon in April and compete for the featherweight title.
Volkanovski will seek to become a twice featherweight champion when Diego Lopes faces, after Ilyia Topuria's decision to dislodge the belt and move on to the light division.
The couple will lead the UFC 314 event in Miami on April 13.
Volkanovski, 36, has not returned to Octagon since his devastating defeat against Topuria a year ago.
“Topuria has felt that he has done everything in that division,” White said through social networks.
'His body can no longer do the weight. We will announce what will be the next Topuria fight when we do it.

Jack Della Maddalena will receive an opportunity in the Welter weight title when she faces Belal Muhammad
Meanwhile, the ascent star Jack Della Maddalena will receive an opportunity for the Welter weight title when she faces Belal Muhammad champion at UFC 315 on May 10 in Canada.
Maddalena has not lost a fight since she joined the promotion in 2016, with a series of highway blows highlighted in her name.
West Aussie was scheduled to face Leon Edwards in March, with the opportunity to face Muhammad if she surpassed the former British champion.
However, a shock injury to Shavkat Rakhmonov has given Della Maddalena a chance to the OFC Gold.
