The Kansas City Chiefs are preparing for a big loss with assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi set to leave and join the Tennessee Titans.
Borgonzi, who has spent 16 seasons with the Chiefs, is headed to Tennessee less than four years since he was named assistant general manager in Arrowhead, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
Now he is ready to step up and become general manager in Tennessee, where he will replace the recently fired Ran Carthon.
Carthon was fired as Titans general manager on Jan. 7 after the team went 9-25 in his two seasons at the helm, missing the playoffs both times.
After dropping the ax on the former running back, Tennessee officials also conducted an interview with Chicago Bears assistant general manager Ian Cunningham.
In Borgonzi they will add an executive with vast experience in one of the most successful NFL franchises of the 21st century.

Borgonzi previously served three seasons as the Chiefs' director of football operations (2018-20) and one as director of player personnel in 2017.
After joining as the team's college scouting manager in 2009, he held several different positions at Arrowhead; including football operations manager, pro scouting, assistant director of pro scouting and co-director of player personnel.
The Chiefs assistant general manager was also an assistant recruiting coordinator at Boston College from 2007 to 2008 before making the move to the NFL.
During his time in Boston, the school played in the ACC championship game twice and won the 2007 Champs Sports Bowl.
Borgonzi also interviewed with the New York Jets for his opening as general manager. He has served under Brett Veach since 2021, overseeing and directing the team's college and professional scouting operations while helping to build the roster.
