The darts star brands his World Championship last 16 opponent “strange” after the player clashed with Luke Littler at this year's event.

Nathan Aspinall has branded Ricardo Pietreczko “a strange character” ahead of his World Championship last 16 clash with the German star.

Aspinall promised to put on a show at Ally Pally on Monday as he aims to reach the last 16.

The 12th seed secured his place in the last 16 by beating Andrew Gilding 4-0 in his third round match, where he recorded a three-dart average of 92.17.

Before his confrontation with Pietreczko, 'The Asp' stated that he sees victory as a certainty, and spoke about the character of his controversial opponent.

'Ricardo is a great darts player but he is a strange character. That's all I can say,' he said.

He keeps it to himself. He takes his partner everywhere. I don't talk to him. I don't know much about his life.

The Asp will face the German in the round of 16 of the World Cup on Monday

Pietreczko previously had an altercation with Luke Littler where he labeled him arrogant.

'I don't care what he is like as a person. I'm going to go up and smash him in the bullseye. If I produce what I can do, he has no chance.

'There can be between 60 and 40 English to German there. At that headquarters, Monday will be electric. I know I'll go there and beat him.'

Pietreczko, who is unseeded, was previously involved in a meeting with Luke Littler in March in the semi-finals of the Belgian Open.

The German stormed up to Littler after his defeat and proceeded to give the Warrington lad a dressing down.

Littler wrote in a darts Facebook group: “I have no idea what I did wrong, I have no idea what he said.” Said something and don't do it again.

Pietreczko wrote on Instagram: “I really appreciate the fact that you can play a game like that at that age.” But I hope that arrogance punishes him.
