The Los Angeles Dodgers campocorto, Mookie Betts, has been discarded from the Tokyo series of two games, said Manager Dave Roberts on Monday.
According to Roberts, Betts has lost 'about 15 pounds' due to the disease. The manager added that Betts could fly back to the United States before the team does it in an effort to be ready for the first internal game against Detroit's Tigers on March 27.
“He won't play in these two games,” Roberts said. 'The point is that when you lose a lot of weight, when you are dehydrated, that is what opens a person to soft tissue injuries. We are very aware of that.
“Then, to take next week, call it, re -build it, its strength, do some baseball activities to prepare for the first game.”
Miguel Rojas will probably begin in the Campocorto instead of Betts for the Dodgers, who face the puppies both on Tuesday and Wednesday.
According to the reports, Betts began to suffer symptoms similar to the flu in the team's spring training house in Arizona, the day before the team went to Japan.
